Chelsea are a different team under Tuchel since the German replaced club legend Frank Lampard in January and he had masterminded two straight wins over Manchester City before the final. The difference between those two games and the third meeting in Porto on Saturday night is that Guardiola used his starting XI for the latter.

Abraham was a star player under Frank Lampard until he lost his place in the team after the arrival of Werner, and since then, he has been unable to convince the past and current managers that he can be the starting striker.

According to the ex-Chelsea manager, it was an open secret that he is a big fan of the West Ham player and that his club didn’t want to let him leave last summer. Lampard said the Hammers know they have a quality player on their hands. He praised Rice whom he described as a leader.

Christian Pulisic speaks fondly about Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

USA international Christian Pulisic has spoken fondly about manager Frank Lampard after helping him to quickly integrate with the first-team squad at Chelsea. The 20-year-old returned prior to schedule during pre-season and he has since gone on to start three of the club’s opening four Premier League matches.


In a report covered by ESPN, Pulisic said that Lampard has helped him to adjust to the demands of the Premier League. He added that the 41-year-old has done a tremendous job during the opening phase of the season where he has aided the progress of a number of younger players, he told: “It’s amazing. I mean, it’s everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s incredible. It worked out really well, for sure. Frank’s a great guy and he’s helped me so much and he understands where I’m coming from and he’s done a really good job and helped me, teaching us, especially a lot of the younger guys on the team.”
