Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be alerted to the prospect of signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram this summer at a bargain fee. The three clubs have all held an interest in the Frenchman at some stage in recent transfer windows, and with his contract running down, he may finally be permitted to move on in the coming months.

As per The Athletic, as Thuram is approaching the final 12 months of his contract, the Bundesliga outfit will try to sell him in the next window for a fee of £10-15 million, rather than lose him on a free transfer in 2023.

Manchester United’s last 16 Champions League exit dominated headlines on Tuesday night. However elsewhere, Ajax also suffered a surprise exit from the competition at the hands of Benfica.

The Dutch champions were favourites to progress into the quarter-finals after securing a 2-2 draw in the first-leg away in Benfica. They were the better side in that game and had the better of the action for much of the second-leg back in Amsterdam. However, a Darwin Nunez strike late into the second half sent the visitors into the next round.

Manchester United defender and captain Harry Maguire could be living his final few months as a Red Devil if reports are to be believed. According to reports from various sources, the England international central defender is living a borrowed time at Old Trafford and could be replaced this summer as he continues to come under huge criticism from fans and former players for his poor performances in a United shirt so far.

According to some other reports, Borussia Dortmund star Manuel Akanji has an offer from Manchester United on the table. The 26-year-old has been tipped to move to Old Trafford amid Harry Maguire’s struggles at the back this term. And any deal that would see him leave Dortmund for the Premier League would, potentially, spell trouble for Maguire and his prospects of staying in the team.

PALACE DUO OUT OF WATFORD GAME

The Crystal Palace defensive duo of Nathan Ferguson and Joel Ward have been ruled out of the rescheduled Premier League game with Watford due to injury. The two players will miss the game scheduled to take place at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night.

Ferguson has had a bad time with injuries since he became a Crystal Palace player at the start of last season. The defender recently returned to full fitness only for him to suffer a setback with a hamstring injury. While giving an update on the hamstring injury earlier this month, Palace boss Patrick Vieira told reporters that Ferguson won’t return to action until April at least as he was ruled out for five to six weeks.

UNITED OPEN TO MARTIAL LOAN EXIT

Three-time European champions Manchester United are reportedly open to the loan exit of French attacker Anthony Martial before the current transfer window runs out. This is via the report from the stables of English publication Manchester Evening News (MEN) which stated that the Red Devils are willing to let Martial leave on loan provided interested clubs will take care of his weekly salary. In addition, Manchester United also want a £6m loan fee for him.

Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has already said that Martial has asked to leave the club this month after failing to secure a regular berth in the Manchester United this season. The arrival of Portuguese goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo from Italian Serie A giants Juventus in the summer of 2021 has limited his playing time.

CITY MAKE IT TEN STRAIGHT VICTORIES

Manchester City are an unstoppable force in the Premier League after they recorded a tenth straight win in the league by beating newcomers Brentford in front of their home fans. The reigning Premier League champions made it ten successive win thanks to the slim win over newly promoted club Brentford. England international Phil Foden marked his return to the starting XI with the only goal of the game off the assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

City boss Guardiola made some changes to his starting XI for the Brentford game in comparison to the team selected for the Boxing Day clash with Leicester City and one of the changes was Foden who was given his first start alongside offence partner Jack Grealish since the England national team duo were dropped from the City starting line-up for the away game against Newcastle United. They were both punished for attending a gathering shortly after they were on target during the 7-0 home win over Leeds United.

DEAN SMITH UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES

Dean Smith is yet to taste defeat as the Norwich City manager after his team came from behind to secure a point against ten men. The Canaries could only settle for a point despite playing over eighty (80) minutes with ten men.

Ex-Aston Villa man Smith took the Norwich City job almost immediately after he was sacked in hisprevious managerial role in the Premier League. Smith was sacked as the Villa boss shortly after losing 1-0 at Southampton thanks to the third minute strike from petite striker Adam Armstrong. The defeat to the Saints made it five straight defeats for Villa in the Premier League and club officials made the decision to relieve him of his duties afterwards. Ironically, his first game as the new Norwich City manager was against Southampton at home. He took the job after Norwich City recorded their first league win of the season, a 2-1 away victory over fellow newcomers Brentford. Norwich City, Brentford and Watford are the three newly promoted clubs in the Premier League this season.
