Werner should not be used as a central striker, claims Zola

Gianfranco Zola has claimed that Chelsea forward Timo Werner, who has not scored in 12 matches, is best utilised when he is on the flanks. The German international started his time with Chelsea in a flourish after scoring a string of goals. All of his four league goals for Chelsea came several months ago. In order to try and reclaim his form, Lampard has tried to utilise Werner in a number of positions. The striker was played as the number nine in the recent match against Manchester City, which ended as a 3-1 loss. Werner was once again poor with not a great deal of offensive threat.

The striker has been immensely prolific throughout his career but he has been struggling to get the right kind of ingredients at Chelsea. Due to the number of offensive options available for Lampard, it appears that the Chelsea boss is not sure about the best position for Werner.Zola has tried to help his former teammate out by suggesting that the German international would be better off playing in the left side of the attacking three.

PARTEY RETURNS FROM INJURY FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal had a disappointing outing against London rivals Crystal Palace last night in the Premier League as their recent good run came to an end but the return of Ghanaian international Thomas Partey to the Arsenal team was one of the few positives for the Gunners on the night. Thomas Partey has had some troubles with staying fit for the Gunners and fans would be hoping that his recent fitness issues are behind him after his second half introduction to the Palace game. He came on in place of Dani Ceballos for the final 21 minutes of the game as Arsenal and Crystal Palace failed to score a goal in their London Derby clash.

Arsenal made the headlines on the final day of last summer’s transfer window when they paid €50m (£45m) to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in the Spanish league. The Spanish La Liga leaders were not willing to let Thomas Partey leave the club but they had no choice after Arsenal activated his release clause.
